How is the average cost calculated?
Multiply the quantity of each purchase by its unit price, add all purchase fees, then divide by the total number of units. A simple average of the prices is only correct when each purchase has the same quantity and there are no fees.
Average cost = Σ(quantity × price + fee) ÷ Σquantity
Example: two purchases
A purchase of 10 units at $100 followed by 10 units at $80 gives 20 units at a total cost of $1,800: an average of $90. With $10 in combined purchase fees, the average becomes $90.50.
Can I use this for crypto?
Yes. Fractional units such as 0.01 BTC are supported. Enter each fee as a total amount in your chosen currency, not a percentage. Fees paid in another token need to be converted before entry.
Are my purchase details saved?
Quantities, prices and fees stay in this page and are not sent to our server or saved. Reloading clears them. We record only an anonymous tool-use counter.
